Welcome to the flagship mentoring program of the 100 Black Men of Augusta, Inc.! Our Saturday Academy is a cornerstone initiative designed to provide comprehensive support and guidance to students and families throughout Augusta and the CSRA. As a mass mentoring program, we gather every 2nd and 4th Saturday between the months of August through May to engage, educate, and empower our participants through a variety of activities centered around our 5 pillars of Mentoring, Education, Health & Wellness, Economic Empowerment, and Leadership Development.
Program Overview
The Saturday Academy is a year-long commitment that serves students from elementary through collegiate levels, as well as our Parent Coaching Program. Each session is carefully crafted to incorporate one or more of our 5 pillars, ensuring a holistic approach to personal and academic development.
Program Highlights
- Mentoring Sessions: Mentees are paired with caring and dedicated mentors who provide guidance, support, and encouragement on their journey towards success.
- Educational Enrichment: Our program offers a variety of educational activities, including tutoring, homework assistance, SAT/ACT preparation, STEM workshops, and college readiness seminars.
- Health & Wellness: Participants engage in activities promoting physical and mental well-being, such as fitness sessions, nutrition workshops, and discussions on mental health awareness.
- Economic Empowerment: Workshops on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, career exploration, and job readiness equip students with essential skills for economic independence and success.
- Leadership Development: Through leadership workshops, community service projects, public speaking opportunities, and role modeling, mentees develop the confidence and skills to become leaders in their schools and communities.
Program Components
- Elementary, Middle, and High School Sessions: Tailored sessions address the specific needs and interests of students at each grade level, providing age-appropriate mentorship and programming.
- Collegiate 100: College students enrolled in our Collegiate 100 program serve as mentors and role models for younger participants, fostering a sense of continuity and support throughout their academic journey.
- Parent Coaching Program: Concurrent sessions for parents offer resources, workshops, and support networks to strengthen family engagement and promote student success both at home and in school.
